  • Picturesque market towns and villages
The County contains a number of picturesque market towns and villages plus many areas of outstanding natural beauty. Leisure facilities abound and there are a variety of visitor attractions that include national treasures such as Woburn Abbey and Whipsnade Wild Animal Park. Each year Luton hosts the biggest one day carnival in Europe.

  • Lower cost of living
Bedfordshire and Luton are growing rapidly and population growth has exceeded the average for all other counties in the South-East. The location of the County is a key factor in its growth. The southern borders of the County are only thirty miles north of London yet the cost of living and cost of business premises is generally lower than in the Capital.

  • Excellent transport links
A business locating in Bedfordshire and Luton will typically access a potential market extending well beyond the County. The excellent transport links to London and the North, including the main motorways M1 and A1(M), mean that there are 28 million customers within 2 hours by road. Furthermore, London Luton Airport is one of the UK’s fastest growing airports, with low-cost scheduled flights to many international destinations, and a busy cargo and charter flight hub.

  • Abundant countryside
Notwithstanding the industrial and manufacturing heritage of urban areas such as Luton and Bedford, much of the County is rural and/or agricultural. There are excellent opportunities for cycling, walking and horse riding. Woburn Golf and Country Club boasts three entries in Golf World Magazine’s top 100 British Isles courses. Bedfordshire is home to one of the UK’s premier health spas, Henlow Grange. In the north of the County the River Great Ouse is navigable from Bedford to the sea and offers abundant water sports from rowing to canal boating and slalom canoeing. To the south the Chiltern Hills provide stunning views over the landscape.

  • High quality education
The County has an excellent reputation for high quality education. Cranfield University is one of Western Europe’s largest academic centres for strategic and applied research, development and design and an international centre of excellence for management studies. The University of Luton enjoys a growing recognition for academic achievement and De Montfort University, with one of its two centres in Bedford, is proud of its high rating by employers for Business and Information Technology. These educational institutions are located in a County which recognises its strategic position at the heart of the Oxford2Cambridge Arc.
