Innovation Centres

There is a well-established Innovation Centre within the Technology Park at Cranfield. This will soon be complemented by a business incubator centre which will provide specialist work space for the development of ideas, supported by the university’s technology and knowledge resources.

In Luton, the successful Luton and Dunstable Innovation Centre operates from four sites and is managed by the University of Bedfordshire.

Further innovation and incubation space aimed at SME’s and start-up businesses should open in March 2005 at the Bedford i-Lab which is being developed by EEDA and Bedford Borough Council on Priory Park, south of Bedford. It is planned that this facility will include wet lab space and be suitable for start up biotech ventures which have traditionally been drawn to nearby Cambridge. i-Lab will be operated by Bedford Borough and offer high specification accommodation and economical, flexible, easy-in, easy-out terms to occupants.
