Facts about Bedfordshire

  • Half of the country’s population within 2 hours by road. Only a few miles north of London’s M25 orbital motorway and with a pivotal position in the UK motorway network, Bedfordshire has more than 28m people within 2 hours by road.

  • Just north of London but business overheads generally lower. Although we are situated just north of London our business overheads are generally lower and we are not threatened with congestion charging! Within easy reach of business hubs at Cambridge and Milton Keynes, we are also close to Birmingham and other Midlands cities. There are frequent rail services to London and elsewhere.

  • Our own international airport - London Luton Airport. London Luton Airport provides international cargo services plus economical, direct scheduled passenger services to Amsterdam, Dublin, Geneva, Paris, Turin, Zurich and other domestic and international destinations. Furthermore, London’s Heathrow and Stansted Airports are both within an hour's drive and major UK seaports are easily accessible.

  • Technically skilled work force. Bedfordshire benefits from a tradition of technically skilled and motivated workers as well as from the growth of knowledge-based industries in the area.

  • Rapidly growing market. UK Government plans for four growth areas in the South East of England will see over 50,000 homes built in Beds and Luton over the next 15 years, promising rapid economic progres. Improvements to local roads already announced by the Department for Transport, including widening of the UK’s main north-south Motorway (M1) and additional carriageways on major east-west routes should help accommodate this growth.
