Butterfield Park Luton
Butterfield is a new 85-acre business and technology park capable of accommodating up to 1 million sq ft (93,000 sq m) of low density (low rise) development in a parkland setting.
Easter Group is developing the park and intends to create a calm, comfortable and stimulating working environment through innovative and environmentally-responsible design.
Butterfield is located north east of Luton on a green-field site abutting the A505 opposite University of Luton’s Putteridge Bury campus. The Business Village offices are due to be completed at the end of 2006.
Butterfield will offer a selection of purpose-built offices as well as bespoke design and build solutions to accommodate occupier needs and attract leading R&D and office occupiers.
Developer Easter Group is seeking to create an attractive working environment and has pointed to an environmentally responsible approach to the design of Butterfield. The park’s Business Village will incorporate an innovative office ventilation system using earth ducts (a reputed first in the UK).
- Construction of the Business Village is due to start in February 2006 ready for occupancy in December 2006. It will accommodate business and technology start-ups with units ranging from 2,100 to 5,300 sq ft located in the heart of the development.
- IBB will provide a home for new knowledge-based businesses and innovative companies. Business support services will be provided to assist new and existing companies to grow and be successful and there will be managed workspace facilities for start-ups.
- The Innovation and Business Base (IBB) is designed by Hopkins Architects and will be managed by Luton Borough Council. The £18.5 million funding for the IBB has been secured from EEDA and the European Regional Development Fund Objective 2 Programme.
